Valentine Robotics selected as North American distributor for Claas Automation and laser measurement systems of Beelen, Germany
Sterling Heights, MI- August 3rd 2006. Valentine Robotics has been selected by Claas Automation Systems (CLAAS Fertigungstechnik GmbH), part of the Claas Group, to distribute in North America Claas Laser Measuring Machines (CLM) which feature 100% contact less, automated, inline laser measurement of manufactured parts.

The CLAAS laser measuring machines have been developed especially for rotating parts and for complex welded assemblies which offer entirely new possibilities in industrial manufacturing since relevant features can be measured 100% inline, using the flexible, non-contact measuring technology with fast process times.

By incorporating the machines in the process chain it is possible to increase the quality standard and to systematically reduce scrap. This creates the basis for zero-defect production. Claas has several key installations at Daimler -Chrysler, BMW, Magna, VW, ThyssenKrupp and others in Europe and the US.

Andrew Valentine, President and founder of Valentine Robotics is excited about being able to bring this new technology to North America for manufacturers that need to monitor quality online for every part produced. “This line of laser measuring equipment is proven technology that can help American companies achieve a measurable gain in quality, save on labor, scrap and inspection cost. The expense in both manpower and traditional gauging technology, does not allow for products to be inspected efficiently in an automated environment.” “100% automated, inline quality inspection, has long been a sort of a Holy Grail in the inspection world, We have been searching for a extended time for a proven system, that can laser-scan parts and automatically do CAD or master part quality comparison utilizing the efficiency of robots. Claas has exactly this system, and it is ready to go”. “Claas machines are not only used in automotive, but also in aerospace, even critical measurement of pipes used in the oil and energy industry”. Said Valentine.

The machines offered by Claas are inline Camshaft inspection systems, Disc-Brake inspection systems, Welded sub assembly systems and pipeline manufacture inspections systems that utilize automated loading of parts to inspections stations, fixtures and or robots to laser-scan parts to generate point-cloud data.

Claas systems then automatically post process the data for instantaneous geometric quality evaluation. These systems are meant for high volume parts that typically require extensive time to inspect or for parts that if defects are not found immediately in the manufacturing process, will cost substantially expensive issues to rectify later in the process or that could create large volumes of scrap.
